LUFTWAFFE BOOKENDS - CIRCA. 1937

#179 - Price: $NFS

You are viewing a VERY rare solid marble 1937 set of Luftwaffe bookends. These were found/removed from an office within the Luftwaffe Air Ministry building in late 1944/early 1945; near the end of WW2. This incredible bookend set is in the same style & from the same marble manufacturer who did all the marble work for Hitler's headquarters in Berlin. The reason this set of bookends is so fascinating to anyone who's interested in aviation is because of the superb solid/chromed/clear lacquered 1:125 He-111 & 1:64 Bf-109 mounted models. The He-111 is one of the very early designs with the twin diesel motors; used in the Spanish Civil War. The Bf-109 is a prototype with the single Curtiss twin-blade propeller & the Rolls Royce Kestrel V motor! This plane had only slits in the side of the cowling for exhaust & other unique design characteristics. Both models have the original yellowing clear lacquer applied in 1937. This patina lends provenance to an already outstanding set of VERY rare bookends. ~ To lend an air of authenticity within this particular case of the many of ToyBum's aviation treasures, an original autographed 1935 1st edition copy of "MEIN FLIEGERLEBEN" (MY LIFE AS A FLYER) by Ernst Udet & Köhlers 1937 Flieger-Kalender are sandwiched between this most unique aviation find.
